Nickel Trading Manager
Location: Jakarta
About the Role
Develop and manage JJ Prime Mining’s nickel ore trading activities in Indonesia, connecting producers and mining companies with smelters. You will oversee the full trading cycle, from sourcing and commercial negotiation through delivery and settlement, supported by strong industry relationships and a practical understanding of ore quality, pricing, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with nickel miners, smelters, buyers, and commercial partners.
- Monitor nickel prices, ore premiums and discounts, supply and demand, and smelter requirements.
- Assess ore specifications, including Ni grade, moisture, Fe content, and Si/Mg ratio.
- Manage deal origination, contract negotiation, loading, transportation, delivery, sampling and assaying, invoicing, and settlement.
- Coordinate miners, smelters, surveyors, and logistics providers to support timely transaction execution.
- Monitor shipment schedules, inventory, logistics costs, margins, and operational issues.
- Ensure transactions comply with applicable Indonesian regulations, licensing requirements, and company policies.
- Report on trading performance, transaction pipelines, market developments, and new opportunities.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in nickel trading, mining, commodities, or a related commercial role.
- An established network of nickel miners and/or smelters in Indonesia.
- Strong knowledge of the Indonesian nickel industry, supply chain, ore specifications, pricing mechanisms, commercial terms, and logistics.
- Proven ability to negotiate and close commercial transactions.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to mining sites, smelters, and other business locations.
